Julien, Edouard, Les Affiches de Toulouse-Lautrec, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Monte Carlo, Andre Sauret Editions du Livre, n.d. [1950], first edition, folio (12.5" x 9.5"), Softcover, French-style wraps. Covers are illustrated color lithograph (details from 1891 poster, "Moulin Rouge - La Goulue") in original glassine over-jacket, VERY GOOD / VERY GOOD. Some loss and chipping to the outer glassine; edgewear to top/bottom covers where glassine has worn through. 1/8" bits of loss at lower front spine and upper rear spine corners. Inner pages mildly age-toned, not affecting the lithographs.

101 pp. Frontispiece and 32 full-page lavishly printed color lithographs, on rectos only. Printed "sur les Presses des Ateliers Mourlot Freres a Paris" (at the presses of Studios Mourlot Freres in Paris) on Grand Velin Filigrane paper, and includes a series of 6 plates showing the "decomposiotion", or intermediate states of the first poster, "Moulin Rouge - La Goulue", 1891.

Rare original edition in lovely condition - increasingly hard to find, as it is frequently "broken" to sell the lithograph plates individually.

NB: It should be noted by the viewer, that the two cover images shown for this title were scanned in the original glassine over-jacket. It was not removed for the scan as that would have destroyed the brittle glassine. So you are seeing the lithographed covers - detail of La Goulue's profile and her silhouetted observers - through the aged, somewhat rumpled surface of the glassine. (Our image is very large.
