Deshairs, Leon & Fernand David, Modern French Decorative Art, London, The Architectural Press, first English edition, lg folio (14.75" x 11.5"), HB, off-white decorated boards w/ green and gilt titles, black cloth spine, gilt title and library call number, VG- / none. See below for details.

n.d.[1926], pp. xi + [i] + 188 pp.; illustrated throughout with approx. 600 black and white photograph plates and 14 color plates reproducing original watercolor and gouache drawings. Original decorative boards, rubbed, some soiling; ex- Wolverhampton Library ( a label and withdrawn stamp on fep; circular stamp on title and bottom of recto pp. not affecting images). Corners bumped, exposed, a repaired tear to ffep and last page of introduction. The preface is by H. De C. Hastings, the editor of The Architectural Review and an introduction by Leon Deshairs, the editor of Art Et Decoration. The Exhibition of Decorative And Industrial Arts held in Paris in 1925 was the occasion for an extensive display of the work of most of France's leading architects and designers and the present volume a reprint of the French edition (L'Art Decoratif Francais 1918-1925) illustrates numerous examples but also includes a number of works dating from 1918. Many well-known names are represented: Jourdain, Chareau, Rohlmann, Jallot, Dufrene, Sue et Mare, Lalique, Goupy and Joubert and many others.
