190 pp. 197 b&w illustrations. Complete translation(first published in 1964 under title: Mein Vorkurs am Bauhaus)of the famous Basic Course at the Bauhaus written by Johannes Itten (1888 - 1967), the original organizer of the School's foundation course. His aim was to assess the students' creativity, facilitate their career choices and to teach them elementary design -- training them for future careers in the applied arts and related industries.
