PREFACE:The publication of this book on Swimming Pool Construction comes at a most opportune time, when the nations of the world have become so recreation minded. Swimming has always been a favorite recreation for young and old, and the construction of suitable swimming pools is now a top project of all municipalities.
As a founder member and now a member of the Executive Committee of the World's Amateur Swimming Federation (F.I.N.A.), I welcome this valuable contribution by the author on this very timely subject. F.I.N.A. founded in 1908 and now celebrating its golden anniversary, was instrumental in creating uniform swimming rules for all the world. F.I.N.A. has been advocating for years the construction of Olympic size indoor pools after successful Olympic swimming competitions were held in such pools in London, England, in 1948 and then again in Melbourne, Australia, in 1956. This book with wealth of technical data should greatly benefit interested parties throughout the World. Jenkintown, Pa. USA., R. MAX RITTER
