Printed 2-sided spec sheet of size guidelines for contestants' design submissions in 4 categories: sedans, hardtop or convertibles, station wagons and sports cars.

The Craftsman Guild Competition was in existence 1930-1968 with annual membership of about half a million boys who were potential entrants in the competition. They worked from Guild-supplied plans for a horse-drawn coach. In the post WWII years, the competition shifted to building model automobiles, designed individually by the contestants. In 1968, the Guild was terminated by GM because of declining participation and poor model quality and possibly because it no longer served the company's commercial interests. Offered here are entry materials supplied to an entrant for the 1960 contest. Contest ended June 10th, 1960. Materials include the original envelope, a newsletter reporting results of the 1959 contest, a drawing A and drawing B spec sheet, and a 27 page soft cover booklet "Designing and Building a Model Car."

A nostalgic look at a time when GM ruled and the American love affair with the car cast its spell on the imaginations of teenage boys.    [Book ID # 1647]
