Author Nicole Parrot spent three years researching her subject, in this, the first international history of the mannequin as a cultural artifact. From the mannequin’s first appearance in 16th-century Venice to the hyper-realist models of today, the author examines the artistry of these creations and the way in which they provide fascinating and often disturbing reflections of their times.
