"The Boardgame Book has over eighty games of skill and chance, with rules and diagrams. Every game is arranged so that it can be played on the open page. Familiar games, such as chess, backgammon, ludo, snakes and ladders. Ancient games played by the pharaohs, the Aztecs, the Greeks and the Romans. Games from America, Japan, India, China, Africa and Polynesia. Eight decorative nineteenth-century map-games are printed on fold-out sheets together with all the necessary equipment and special piefcecs, so that he reader can trace the 5000-year-old story of man's fascination with boardgames while playing on some of the boards which have survived as evidence."

Great gift.
