Edgeworn, faded at edges, creased at front corner; stress creasing on left cover.

56 pp. Profuse b/w illustrations of plans, renderings and photographs of work by both architects. Published in conjunction with an exhibition of the same name at Emory University from March 7-May 15, 1985.

Henry Hornbostel, an important exponent of Beaux-Arts architecture, was responsible for the master plan of the campus of Emory Universityand the design many of the buildings therein in 1916. He created a natural garden campus with Georgia-marble buildings of modern Italianate design. The landscape of the campus is tied to that of the Olmsted-designed residential community of Druid Hills, adjacent to the campus.

Michael Graves & Associates designed the renovation plans for The Michael C. Carlos Hall, Museum of Art and Acheology which had formerly been the the Law School building, one of those originally designed by Hornbostel at Emory University.

The exhibition inaugurated the new University Museum with an exhibit of works by both Hornstobel and Graves on behalf of Emory University - uniting Horstobel's Beaux-Arts classicism to Graves' innovative Post- Modernist approach into a "fascinating conjunction of design principles from two key moments in the history of American architecture."    [Book ID # 1078]
