Dal Fabbro, Mario, How to Build Modern Furniture, New York, McGraw-Hill Book Company, Inc., 1957, second revised edition, 4to (10" x 7.5"), HB, tan paper bds w/ black illus. & titles, VG / VG-. Extremities bumped. DJ quite edgeworn, edges chipped & creased, rubbed, 1" tear w/ small loss to top rear wrap.

214 pp. Profuse illus. Measured drawings for 53 furniture designs and woodworking projects. Includes detailed instructions about joints, plywood & curves, covering edges & panels, doors, shelves, drawers, materials other than wood, chairs and upholstery.

The author, a well known furniture designer, worked in his native Italy and for Paul McCobb Design Associates after he came to the U.S. in 1948. He wrote several how-to books for building contemporary furniture and interior woodworking. This is the revised edition of the most successful of his volumes, originally published as two volumes in 1951 and 1952 respectively. Author's foreword: "This second edition of How to Build Modern Furniture combines in one volume all of the really useful instructions and diagrams for woodworking, cabinet making, and furniture hardware that have made the two volumes of the first edition so popular. A few details of restricted commercial interest have been eliminated, and a number of new developments in technique and hardware have been added...material has been reorganized in more logical and convenient form...a complete index has been provided".

An ideal how-to book for handy Andys with an eye for mid-20th-Century design. Included are plans for benches, cabinets, tables, chairs, desks, bookcases, sofas, dressers, chests, beds and more. A valuable reference, especially for the DYIs out there! See our other related listings of Dal Fabbro titles.
