Maisons de France, Paris, Les Publications de France, 1949, first edition, folio (10" x 12.5"), HB, flexible bds in green wallpaper dj, VG / VG. Some wear from general use. DJ edges worn.
253 pages, profuse illustration, many in color. Very nice folded dj made of wallpaper designed by Régis Manset for the French paper company J. Grantil.
100 country houses divided by region: Ile-de-France, Picardy, Normandy, Brittany, Touraine et Centre, Basque country, Provence, the Alps, as well as what were then French territories--Tunisia, Algeria, Thailand (then Indochina), and Niger, plus a few house boats. Classic and modernist decor.
Many of these subjects were culled from previous titles in the series Plaisir de France. Maisons de France is one of a triumvirate on houses and interior design. Also on this site is Demeures et Jardins de France, the third book in the trio. [Book ID # 1712]
